The DClinPsy Programme Team is made up of experienced researchers, academics and clinicians, supported by a professional services team, who together aim to support you in developing and honing the clinical, professional and empirical skills and competencies you will require to qualify and practise as a clinical psychologist.

Tom joined the Sheffield DClinPsy programme in 2023, as an experienced clinician and senior NHS Leader, having previously worked across the Yorkshire region and nationally as both a consultant clinical psychologist and clinical & strategic leader/director. He has particular interests in healthcare strategy & leadership, and has specialised clinically in the health and wellbeing of people with intellectual disabilities and people who present with behaviours which challenge others. Outside of DClinPsy training, Tom provides specialist supervision and mentoring to clinicians and NHS leaders and works as a specialist advisor to NHS Provider Trusts, NHS England and HM Courts & Tribunal Service.

Dr Victoria Tew (Toria, she/her) (Selection Lead)
I am a University Teacher on the DClinPsy programme. As part of my role, I am an Academic Tutor and I also work as part of the Selection Team to organise and plan our admissions processes. I teach on clinical skills and CBT on the DClinPsy, and on working with people with physical health conditions on the Talking Therapies and undergraduate programmes. Before working at the University, I worked as a Clinical Psychologist in NHS physical health services and I currently work clinically in private practice. I am also one of the DClinPsy champions for LGBTQI+ people alongside Alex.
My specialty is in the field of CBT, particularly for eating disorders. My other primary area of clinical and research interest is therapist drift. My research is focused on brief, effective therapies for the wide range of eating disorders. I teach on a wide range of courses within Psychology, as well as delivering clinical training nationally and internationally.

Dr Neil Palmer is a HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Tutor working on the Sheffield DClinPsy course. His areas of expertise and interest include child and adolescent mental health, assessing and providing support for neurodivergent people, and attachment and trauma. He worked in Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) for more than 8 years, including 4 years as High Specialised Clinical Psychologist, and continues his clinical practice through work as an Associate Psychologist.

I am a Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Tutor on the DClin Psy Programme. I also work clinically in Sheffield’s NHS Specialist Psychotherapy Service, specifically in a team specialising in complex trauma. I have further training in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and primarily use this model in my clinical work. I am also DBT trained and was part of the team that set up Sheffield’s DBT programme.
I have interests in Supervision, Difference & Diversity and Community Psychology and teach on these subjects on the DClin. I am part of the ED&I subcommittee, and I am one of the champions for LGBTQI+ people alongside Toria.
