Welcome to the Sheffield Doctorate in Clinical Psychology training programme.
The programme is organised by The University of Sheffield in collaboration with local providers of psychology services and is commissioned by NHS England. The programme has approval from the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS). Successful completion of the programme means that trainees are eligible to apply for registration with HCPC and gain chartered status with the BPS. HCPC is the statutory regulator for practitioner psychologists in the UK.
Trainees are full-time students at The University of Sheffield and are also employed by Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust (SHSC). The Trust is contracted to undertake duties in respect of employment by the commissioning body. Trainees are line managed by university-based, NHS-employed clinical tutors within the overall structure of Psychological Services, SHSC.

The programme handbook is updated annually to reflect amendments to procedures and requirements of different training cohorts. In the event of any changes, the handbook issued in the year you commenced your training is the one which applies to you.
