The judges gave us very helpful feedback on our presentation, and nearly all were positive. Many praised our professionalism and creativity, while a few offered helpful, constructive criticism. Most people gave us a high score of 90% or more. Common comments were on how engaged we were during the presentation, and how effectively we connected with the audience. Someone also mentioned that we presented our information clearly and in an organized way.
There were several questions asked at the end of our presentation. For example, one person asked whether the sensor would be triggered by movement while someone slept. I explained that if the sensor is positioned low to the ground, it shouldn’t detect that type of movement. Some judges were confused about how the PIR sensor worked, so we clarified its function. Another judge inquired about the possibility of making a metal outlet cover. I thought it was an interesting idea, but the vast majority of residential outlet covers are made using plastic because of its insulating properties and versatility.
A few critiques included comments on repeated information in our presentation, and somebody suggested that we should have demonstrated how the project functioned before presenting our slides. One person noted that we appeared nervous and used some filler words, but still found the presentation easy to follow. Suggestions for improvement included making our presentation more engaging, such as by elaborating on the Arduino board.
Overall, the feedback was extremely useful. Many responses offered detailed insights rather than just simple opinions. The scores gave us a good idea of how well we performed, with everyone rating us highly. The thoughtful questions and suggestions helped us understand how others viewed our work and provided us with areas for improvement. In the end, we are grateful for the detailed and constructive feedback we received.
