Students recognize the rights, responsibilities and opportunities of living, learning and working in an interconnected digital world, and they act and model in ways that are safe, legal and ethical.

Connection to Graduate Profile: Sense of Purpose, Sense of Self

In Digital Citizen, we invite students to consider their role in fostering positive online communities. Students consider the impact that content they post online can have on themselves and others as they learn to communicate respectfully online; they consider strategies for building a positive online presence as they learn about their digital footprint; and they consider legal and ethical considerations involved in using the creative work of others as they responsibly remix content found online. Learning digital citizenship in context helps students learn to “conduct themselves ethically and with integrity” as they remix digital content, build “self-esteem” as they construct a positive online presence, and graduate with a “healthy sense of self and the confidence that they have a valuable role to play in the world” as they take an active role in building positive online communities.
