Hi, I’m Ms. Villalobos!
I was born and raised in San Francisco. My interest in science started in middle school and when I was in college, the scientific study of the mind and behavior really caught my attention. I majored in Psychology, started working with kids when I graduated, and then decided to get my master's in teaching (for secondary science). This will be my 4th year officially teaching 7th and 8th grade science at Denman but my 5th year being a part of the community (I did my student teaching at Denman and Ms. Poulos was my cooperating teacher!)
Some of my favorite things about teaching are…
-getting to know so many unique individuals who come together to form a diverse classroom community that can never be replicated. Each class is as unique as the young people in it!
-creating a class environment where mistakes are celebrated as learning experiences and where we learn from each other.
-seeing those “aha!” moments happen when my students start making sense of scientific phenomena through their own discoveries.
-watching my students collaborate and create a final product that showcases their collective knowledge and creativity.
In my free time, I enjoy reading poetry, watching Giants baseball, going on scenic walks, going to concerts, trying new (vegetarian) food, traveling, and spending time with my nieces and nephews.
Although this year will be a bit different than a typical school year, I'm excited to go through this educational journey with you!
Cheers to a great 2020-2021 school year!
