About Me

Hello 7th & 8th grade students and families! My name is Ms Land and this is my first year teaching at James Denman. I grew up in Illinois and moved to San Francisco in 2013. This is going to be my 10th year teaching - my 9th year teaching middle school! I will be teaching 7th and 8th grade Social Studies and I will have an 8th grade Advisory group. I can’t wait to meet you and your families and learn and grow with you this school year!

Interests

Outside of the classroom, I love spending time exploring new places around San Francisco. I have lived here for almost ten years but I still find a lot of beautiful parks and things to do. I also like to continue learning new things. Recently I have taken a stained glass window art class and I built my own project, I learned how to scuba dive and explore life in the ocean, and I am starting to learn how to physically challenge myself by rock climbing outdoors. Each of these experiences has made me a better teacher because it helps me remember what it is like to take risks and try new things - like my students do everyday!
