Upon graduating from the Yuvak class, students take part in the sacred Upanayan ceremony, one of the most significant Samskārās. The term "Upanayanam" derives from "Upa," meaning 'close,' and "Nayanam," meaning 'to bring,' symbolizing the act of bringing one closer to the Guru or the Divine. Also known as the "sacred thread ceremony," Upanayanam marks the commencement of formal education in the Vaidic tradition and serves as an initiation into the sacred Gayatri Mantra. The ceremony includes the wearing of the Yajnopavitam, or sacred thread, on the body.
