It is the responsibility of students and parents to see that all graduation requirements are met.
Below is a chart of credits needed to graduate. Students are required to take a minimum of 6.5 credits each year of high school but may take up to 7.5 credits.
Academic Career Planning
All students will be enrolled in an Academic Career Planning class (ACP/WYN) to develop and revise their ACP throughout their educational career and assist them in planning for their future goals. This course shows students how their high school experience ties into life’s “big picture”. Students will be guided by their homeroom teachers as they explore various post-secondary educational and career opportunities that align with their interests and abilities. Students will be eligible to earn 0.25 credits per year.
Phy Ed Waiver
Students may waive their credit of Phy Ed once during high school in order to take an additional academic core course beyond graduation requirement when participating in at least 72 hours of an organized and supervised athletic activity. A signed waiver form is required and must be completed by the student prior to trimester 3 of their senior year. Students do not earn 0.5 credit.
Failures
Students are responsible for the re-scheduling of required subjects made necessary because of failures. Students who fail any course should set up an appointment with their counselor at the earliest opportunity to make a plan. Options may include summer school, repeating the class and/or Learning Center.
Scheduling
Information is presented each year during registration time describing graduation requirements, post-secondary school recommendations and college credit opportunities. Students who have questions please set up an appointment with their counselor. Our families are encouraged to be an integral part of this process. Class choices can be viewed in PowerSchool.
Post High School Planning
Whether a student’s plans include additional education or employment, keep in mind the following major factors which college admissions and employers may consider:
1. The rigor of the student's course selection and completion. Challenge yourself!
2. Leadership roles in high school and community activities.
3. High school grade point average and class rank.
Early Graduation
Students who wish to graduate early must meet with their school counselor, and parent/guardian, to discuss their post-secondary plans during junior year.
Collegiate Athletics
Students planning to pursue college-level athletics should be aware of NCAA requirements. Please refer to the NCAA website for specific information at: www.eligibilitycenter.org. It is the responsibility of students and parents to see that these requirements are met by graduation. Students are encouraged to register after sophomore year.
