PE Lifeguard Training

In this course, students will work independently and with an instructor to obtain the American Red Cross lifeguard certification. The class will consist of classroom work and time in the pool, CPR, first aid, and AED certification. Course activities will help students understand the importance of fitness and physical activity throughout their lifetime. Completion of weekly online assignments related to lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR and AED.
Must be at least 15 years old and be able to swim 300 yards unassisted.

Bellin XL Strength Performance Training vision: To provide the tools to optimize every student’s athletic potential through the implementation of current research-based training methods. Course activities will help students understand the importance of fitness and physical activity throughout their lifetime. Weekly writing assignments on fitness, health, and workout plans. This class is seen as an advanced level class that works on building upon individual goals and needs.
Activities may include: XL Performance and speed and agility workouts. Students will be provided guidance in performance strength training during in-season and out of season athletics and physical fitness testing. May include water activities.

Sports Officiating and Coaching

This course is designed to promote lifelong physical activity by participating in officiating and coaching topics. Also, this course allows youth the opportunity to participate in sports by addressing the current WIAA officiating shortage. Officiating certification, renewal, philosophy, technique, signals, and professionalism will be discussed and emphasized. Coaching philosophy, theory, game, practice, season planning, budgeting, and communication will be covered. (A whistle will be provided for each student).

Sports Officiating and Coaching 2

Prerequisite: Sports Officiating & Coaching
After completion of Sports Officiating 1, Sports Officiating 2 requirements will include officiating during Physical Education classes. Students will be expected to take the knowledge, mechanics, and leadership skills learned from Sports Officiating 1 and carry them over in Sports Officiating 2 to gain additional experience officiating. Students will check in with the assigned teacher each day and will be expected to change for class.
