“That flimsy little paperback got us through some tough times as kids.”
While her mother was away on work business, the writer's father would fill take on the role of primary caregiver for her and her three siblings. A cherished part of their time together involved reading stories out loud at bedtime. In this narrative, the writer shares this moment with us and reflects on what it has meant for her literacy development now that she's an adult.
