Quick Tips for Success

Relationships and well-being can take priority over assignment

In shifting to distance learning, you will need to actively focus on maintaining a positive place to learn for both you and your child. Be forgiving of yourself and your child- just do your best! We are here to support you if you are struggling and need help. Don't hesitate to reach out!

Establishing a routine and maintaining clear communication are crucial

Maintaining and communicating predictable routines is very important. Doing so helps our students to maintain a sense of psychological safety. BUT also don't get too hung up on a routine either. Keep in mind that your family's routine will be unique to your child's and your family's needs and that's OK!

Get outside if you can

Outdoor scavenger hunts, bike rides, walks, playing in the yard, and letting your child use his/her imagination for long periods of time are all ways that are SO good for all of you! There have been SO many studies that prove the benefits of children being outdoors :-) Please practice social distancing while outdoors to keep your family safe!

Teach them life skills

This is the perfect opportunity to teach our kids new life skills. Life skills are SO important- learning how to cook, clean, set the table, fold laundry, pick up after themselves or count money. Start with small tasks that will turn into positive habits. Children often feel a sense of accomplishment and are proud of themselves for helping around the house!

Quiet time

Everyone needs some quiet time. This may mean being in their room reading, drawing a picture, working on a craft or using a favorite app. This also gives caregivers time to get some work done without interruption and also may be the secret to keeping your family healthy and strong.

Have fun

This is the perfect time to do a messy and fun science experiment, cook some delicious yummy cookies or playing a simple game your child enjoys. Sometimes the reality is that we can simply forget how much learning takes place just by living life and being with one another.
