SHS Model UN’s 10th Annual Conference Delivers A “Wicked Awesome” New England Success!
On Saturday, January 11th, the SHS Model UN team welcomed nearly 300 high school delegates from across the state to their 10th Annual Model UN Conference, an electrifying day of debate, negotiation, and diplomacy. Under the inspired leadership of Co-Secretary-Generals Sophia Cordeiro and Hannah Tadros, both Class of 2025, and Crisis Director Nick Tow, ’25, this entirely student-run event marked a decade of excellence in true SHS style.
To celebrate the conference’s 10-year milestone, students introduced a creative New England theme that brought local flair to the global stage! Delegates tackled high-stakes challenges, including reimagining the post-WWII international monetary system in Bretton Woods, plotting coffee-market domination as board members of Dunkin’ (or Starbucks), and debating the future of standardized testing as the Massachusetts Department of Education. As always, Seekonk’s signature crisis scenarios and an advanced committee led by alumni now in college pushed participants to their limits, showcasing the best of what Model UN has to offer.
