Seekonk High School is located in at 261 Arcade Avenue, Seekonk, MA (about 10 miles outside of Providence, RI)
The story of the Seekonk Model UN team began in 2012 by a small cohort of individual students interested in diplomacy, debate, and world domination. Ever since, the club has grown and now includes around 30-40 members each year, and we attend 5-6 high school conferences and one major college conference. We also host WarriorMUN each January and it is a small, engaging, immersive Model UN conference that challenges delegates of all exerience levels.
Our school's first conference occurred in December 2015 under the leadership of alumni Hannah Machado, '15 when our growing club wanted to hold its own conference. The next year, the conference was cemented as an annual tradition under Secretary-General Hannah MacDonald, '17 in January 2017.
Club President Noah Brennick, '18 ran Warrior MUN III in December 2018, the first conference to feature a joint crisis committee. In 2019, Secretary-General William Ott, '19 created one of our most spectacular conferences to date with engaging crisis.
COVID-19 did not stop us from running an all-virtual conference under the leadership of Matthew Kugel, '21 in 2020. Our largest conference, WarriorMUN VI was led in 2021 by Secretary- General Kate Corbett, '21.
Secretary-General Nicholas Yang, '22 ran Warrior MUN VII in 2022, this conference had our first alumni-run committee. In 2023, we again featured alumni committees and Seekonk's signature immersive crisis situations under the leadership of Secretary-General Emily Ott, '23.
We can't wait to see what the future of WarriorMUN looks like!
In terms of education about the world around us, public speaking, and debate, Model UN has been an essential asset to everyone on our team. By virtue of hosting WarriorMUN XI, we hope that we can extend this spirit to as many people as we can.
