RESEARCH

Information Literacy is defined by the  Association of College and Research Libraries as

"... the skills to know when we need information and where to locate it effectively and efficiently. It includes the technological skills needed to use the modern library as a gateway to information. It enables us to analyze and evaluate the information we find, thus giving us confidence in using that information to make a decision or create a product."

Through collaborative lessons, HMS students learn to choose credible sources and show academic integrity by citing these sources.

Research Databases & Non-Fiction eBooks

What are Research Databases?

Research databases are great onine tools to use when conducting research because they contain highly accurate information that has been taken from encyclopedias and other credible sources. Although you access them online, they are different from a website.  Databases are available only through library membership and require a login to access the information within. Because of this login, you cannot locate the information in a database through an internet search.
