Woeful Weather
Tears swell in the craters
Of my cheeks with no one
To wipe them clean.
You were my strongest
rock this side of the rivers
I unleashed during
Funerals and Planet Earth.
Better than the weatherman,
You subdue hurricanes
And predict downpours.
But now your sun can’t
Shine on my heart to make
Our own weather patterns and
Rainbows.
For Alan
It’s almost as if
As he stands before the court,
They do not know him.
His once great triumphs
Now forgotten, for one “flaw.”
He is not normal
“Monster” they call him.
The lives he saved don’t matter,
His honor is gone.
This code that he broke
Will only end with his death.
For loving a man.
