Intel form NEW

Completion of a MARF or a conversation with a professional DOES NOT REPLACE the submission of an INTEL FORM.

Prior to sending intel forms they MUST be protected with a password (agreed password to be shared Tower1234). This will ensure the documents integrity and importantly, protect the source should it be accidentally be sent elsewhere, intercepted or cc’d etc. in error.

The form contains an area for intelligence and an area for the informants details. As such, this should not be printed off or filled out whilst in the community as that carries the risk of it being lost or stolen and exposing the informant to risk. This is really important so please ensure that message is passed to and understood by your teams.

Please also be aware that all intel forms should be sent to the Awaken inbox – awaken@lancashire.police.pnn.uk and not to individual staff members.

So with the above 1 and 3 usual safeguarding approach to be applied – 2 could be an intel entry. The point being in the case examples of 1 & 3 there would be expectation for the school to approach the child and speak about the concerns before knowing how to refer on.

Information/intelligence shared will be used to contribute to ongoing decision making during the consideration of CE1 referrals and ongoing CE2 assessments.

The Blackpool Youth Hub* is a new facility that will support young people between the ages of 16 and 24 who are currently unemployed, to find a way back into work.

The service will help young people to develop their skills, improve their employment chances and will specifically target youth unemployment in the town.

Located in the town centre, young people can call in to make an appointment to see a Youth Hub Employment Adviser and receive one-to-one support on their journey to sustained long-term employment. Some young people will also be able to meet with their DWP Youth Work Coach in the centre as there are two co-located staff in the new hub.

The service will bring together support from a range of local partners, including:

JobcentrePlus

The Princes Trust

Groundwork

Blackpool FC Community Trust

Blackpool and the Fylde College

Blackpool Council's in-house services

These partners will provide training and employment support, with the long-term goal of reducing the number of young people that are not in education, employment or training in the town.

Working with employers, FE and training providers, the Youth Hub will become the ‘go to’ place to recruit young people onto courses and into jobs. The Youth Hub is building relations across the town with employers and providers linking them with potential new recruits but also listening to and acting on their recruitment and skills requirements.

Who is it for?

The Youth Hub service is open to young people without a job, who have been actively seeking work in the past four weeks and are available to start work or training in the next two weeks and offers up to 6 months support. This includes young people who have just completed a Kickstart work placement and need help to get their next job.

How to get in touch

If you know a young person who would benefit from support to find work or training they can:

Call in and book a first appointment:

Unit 3 Bickerstaffe House (next to the new Post Office), Cookson Street, FY1 3EF - Open Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5.00pm

Food and Chat at St John's Church

Each Thursday 12-2pm (starting 28th April) we’re going to put on some free lunch in an informal cafe style environment for anyone who’s first language isn’t English (predominantly for refugees and asylum seekers) to come, eat and grow in confidence with their conversation and language and build community.

I don’t know if you have any parents who fall in that category but if you do, they’d be so welcome to come.

Resilience Coaches

The Resilience Coach Team sit within the School Standards, Safeguarding and Inclusion Services.

The Resilience Coach Team are committed to embedding a resilience based therapeutic approach, which focuses on breaking the cycle of social disadvantage, which impacts many young people. Our aim is for each young person to access and benefit from opportunities provided by school and the community.

Resilience Coaches work as equal partners with young people and their parents/carers to look at social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Ambitious plans can be made with the young person, enabling them to make informed choices and empowering them to be at the forefront of making positive plans for their future.

Why are Resilience Coaches and our programmes unique:

• Our innovative approach is underpinned by Resilient Therapy (Hart, et al, 2007), which is evidenced based. This approach has informed the newly developed Model of Practice, which is for all partners working alongside children, young people and families in Blackpool.

• It is an asset based approach which is focused on resilience building and is tailored to the individual need.

• The support is there throughout the year, including the school holidays.

• It empowers the young person and family to identify their own goals, maximising positive outcomes.

• The support is offered to the young person at school, home and in their community.

• The Resilience Coach Team have over four years’ experience of supporting the transition of young people from primary to secondary school.

. Supporting young people at risk of exclusion and with young people around self-harm. The Resilience Coach Team have established relationships with Blackpool schools and, some Lancashire school and are flexible and considerate to the demands of school life.

• The Resilience Coach Team have a good working knowledge of child and adolescent mental health, including expertise around self-harm, trauma informed care, thoughts of suicide, anxiety and depression.
