Learn About Sean and Bruiser

Sean and Bruiser

Forever in Our Hearts 4/11/89 - 4/8/2020

Sean lived in New Jersey for most of his life with his mother, sister, and brother. He went to school and worked in the restaurant business.

He was an animal advocate and loved his family with his whole heart. He was passionate about rescuing and fostering dogs and cats. He loved music and going to concerts. Sean often spent his free time in nature, fishing.

Sean struggled with mental illness due to trauma from early childhood sexual assault. Just like many others, he turned to self-medicating with drugs and alcohol as a way to cope. He rode a rollercoaster of recovery, being in and out of rehabilitation centers for most of his young adult life.

With the help of his family and peers, he had years of success being clean and sober while he lived his life with his emotional support dog, Bruiser. Bruiser was a purebred King Charles Cavalier Dog. He was a part of the family for almost 15 years!

Unfortunately, Sean's battle with his demons came to an end on 4/8/2020. He is survived by his family and friends who are allowing his memory and legacy to grow in a forward motion by helping those in recovery for mental health wellness and substance abuse recovery every day.

Sean always hoped to encourage others to ask for help. He wanted others to learn to have the strength to get to the root causes of their mental illness. Most importantly, to not allow the stigmas placed before us today to stop us from advocating for ourselves and our community.

Sean loved spending time with family.

Sean and bruiser went everywhere together for over a decade.

Sean was a fisherman at heart. he would do anything to be in nature, relaxing fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Sean enjoyed doing anything outdoors!

Seans personality attracted any animal he was around, they trusted him.

Sean had a special place in his heart for dogs.

Family always came first.

Bruiser was treated like a king in our family!

“Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go”

 ~ Jamie Anderson

Bruiser was Seans registered emotional support dog and we will be forever grateful for dedicating his life to being seans companion.
