The Kanagawa Institute of Technology Entrance Plaza is a semi-open public space located in Atsugi.

It was designed by the Japanese architect Junya Ishigami.

The plaza serves as a flexible gathering space for students, blending architecture with natural elements like light, air, and rain.

Its construction was completed in 2020 as part of the KAIT campus development. 

The KAIT Entrance Plaza uses a column-free structural system, creating a large unobstructed open space.

The thin steel roof is supported along the perimeter, giving it a light and floating appearance.

The roof has multiple irregularly shaped openings (skylights) that allow natural light, air, and rain to enter.

The sloping floor slab follows the terrain, enhancing the landscape-like spatial experience.

Overall, the structure is designed to be lightweight, minimal, and closely connected to nature.
