Mud Casting
Subodh Shelke
Introduction
In this using the idea of mud casting with the help of different kinds of materiar or methods like appling air pressure, water droplets, cement mixture, ash, husk, etc. And understand the matterial properties, Aim to achieve the different types of mud walls or curved structures, and experiment on that to find the perticular method to create mud form.
EXPERIMENT 1.
AIM -to achieve the different form of texture, by using air presure and water drops on mud.
PROCESS-
first I took soil and some water, then mixed that and prepared mud. then I was made a layer of mud and applied air constantly. after that the water put in same pracess , later got the texture.
applying on air
water drops texture
EXPERIMENT 2.
AIM- My aim was how to form an structure by mixing 1:1 ratio of clay and cement together with the help of mud mold. and understand workability of cement with clay.
MATERIAL-clay, cement,watar.
PROCESS-
First I made an equal mixture of cemetand mud.
Then I make only a mud mold.
The mixture of cement and mud is put it in a mud mold.
Atfer the molding I removed that dry mud.
clay
Cement
Mud mold
Observation
This mixture takes maximum time to sat as compared to normal concrete.
EXPERIMENT 3.
AIM- To achieve the different form of wall structure, for using bamboo sticks or mud.
PROCESS-
First I was make bamboo stick structure and give a particular form.
I made a mixture of ash, husk and clay to make mud.
Mud was applied on wood structure.
Then I was burned that whole mud struc
Material
Observation
A few hours after the structure was completed , it collapsed.
After a full burn it fell down because it did not get the same fire.
After heating, it changed color and got brownish colore.
EXPERIMENT 4.
AIM- To chieve the different form of mud wall from using gravity itself to following a constant method.
PROCESS-
First I made a structure like a sloping slide 40cm in height with the help of wooden stickit. for using small pvc pipe and wooden stick.
In gravity from that slide, mud balls were thrown in straight line.
Observation
after that made happaned small cavities in between the mud bolls.
EXPERIMENT 5.
AIM- To create a sparical form of wall and find a particular method of mud wall making. and also studing the geometrical understanding of that structure.
MATERIAL- Clay mud
Tool- metal rod, metal wire, rubber band.
PROCESS-
In this I fixed a vertical matal rod at a point, then I connected the 30cm metal wire to the radius with the rod , then I stretched the rod at the last point of radius. then I was through the tangentialy mud bolls one on top of the other.
.
ATTEMPT 2
AIM- I made above experiments on large scale, my goal was to learn about how external forces affect the structure on a large scale and what changes occure.
PROCESS-
In this I was take 2ft metal wire as a radius.
I fixed that wire on a point, then I attached a 6/8 cm rectangular plywood to the end wire.
make 6cm diameter size of mud bolls.
After that followed the same process as above.
Observation
The shape of the mud changed after the mud was thrown at each other.
That complete structure remained stable to a certain height. Then it broke as soon as the height increased a littele.
