MTS UPDATES: As of 08/31/25 all bus pass holders without a photo in SANDIS lost their pass privileges until their SC is able to upload a photo in SANDIS and notify us.
SDRC most commonly funds transportation for the clients who attend a day program, school (college), work, or social rec. Certain court-ordered processes or programs may also be funded.
There is the Youth Opportunity Pass (YOP) that kids ride from age 6 to 18 for free if they register:
A Pronto Card (bus pass) is always the most cost-effective way to get around. If the person requires Mobility Training, we have two agencies that we can refer out to, they will do an assessment to determine if the person can board/deboard, make transfers if needed, evaluate if there are stranger concerns and what to do if lost or in an emergency. Training is short and fast comprised over a few days.
SDRC is funding transportation services for nearly 10,000 people!
For MTS (See trip planner here) (Southern Area/Downtown San Diego are served by MTS)
For NCTD/Lift (See trip planner here) (North County San Diego is served by NCTD)
The first service SC's should consider for their clients is Mobility Training
Mobility Training assesses a client's ability to ride San Diego's Fixed Route Bus Services.
Mobility training gets created as it's own TSR by the SC along with a MTS bus pass TSR.
Transportation dept. confirms the TSR with a mobility trainer vendor and submits POS after confirming the TSR.
Fixed Route Bus Pass (Pronto Card) functions throughout all of San Diego county (From San Ysidro to San Clemente) on fixed route buses, trolleys, and COASTER & Sprinter rail lines!
There are currently over 2,500 SDRC clients using Pronto Cards!
In SANDIS TSRs, select Bus Pass type (11), Most common bus pass.
Premium Pass (PR) is for additional areas such as Camp Pendleton and other areas.
(CO) is for COASTER pass such as sprinter light rail and coaster rail lines
