The Zoom Classroom

As our new year begins, Rediscovering San Diego and the Globe class continues to take  "virtual trips" through the use of a software technology on "Zoom."  The days and times of these "trips" or Zoom sessions will be the same as your regular field trip class was--every Tuesday or Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.  However, our virtual trips will last only about an hour. 

You may be asked to download the Zoom software, if you don't already have it.  When you download the program once, you will not have to do it again on your computer.   

NOTE:  Some people who do  not have a webcam or microphone may call with their phones AND view the video on the computer screen.  This way, you can see what we are doing and communicate with us.  

Do you have a mobile device?  Then go to the app store and download the free Zoom app and set it up.    Then, when you click on the link for your session, it will automatically open in the app.  Or, just as easy, open the app and tap join a meeting, then add the meeting ID.

Remember, it is optional to join our Zoom meetings.  We hope you do, but if you don't, we hope you will enjoy the lesson and videos each week.

Following are detailed instructions for joining by phone only, in case you would like to read through them:

1. Dial an in-country number.   Phone numbers are listed in the section below this one.  If you dial a toll number, your carrier rates will apply. You can find the numbers on your meeting invitation or a full list of international dial-in numbers at https://zoom.us/zoomconference.

2. You will be prompted to enter the meeting ID - 297 297 2129 followed by #.

3. If the meeting has not already started and join before host is not enabled, you will be prompted to enter the host key to start the meeting, or to press # to wait if you are participant.

4. You will be prompted to enter your unique participant ID. This only applies if you have joined on the computer or mobile device or are a panelist in a webinar. Press # to skip.

Following is the specific information you will need to join your Tuesday or Thursday morning Zoom class session.  Click on the link just before your session is to begin in order to join the class.  You may have to wait in the waiting room before I arrive.
