This unit has 4 lessons. It is recommended that they done in the order provided as they do build on one another however, it is not neccessary if the teaching team feels a lesson needs to be addressed earlier in the school year.
Lesson 1: The Brain and Emotions
Introduction lesson to the brain and how emotions govern adolescence interaction with the world. Builds vocabulary and demonstration everyone feels and reacts to emotions but how and where we feel it different.
Lesson 2: The Amygdala
The amygdala is in control during the pruning process. Understanding and appreciating the survival mechanism buried inside our brain and how it has a vital purpose and how to listen and dance with the amygdala.
Lesson 3: How to Fuel your Growth
Pre teens are going through a tremendous growth spurt not only in the brain but in the body as well, eating nutritional food and getting plenty of exercise allows adolescence to grow to their optimal ability and sets up their future health.
Lesson 4: Sleep: Why?
Sleep is important for health of the brain. As pre-teens age, sleep patterns shift. This lesson teaches the importance of sleep and how to work with the sleep pattern shift and get the best sleep for health.
