By using the First Nations Perspective of Health and Wellness as a guide, this program seeks to build the little human being. If the individual is strong, they can support all challenges that come their way.
Why?
As an educator I have noticed:
Society has changed. The usage of the Smartphone means students have unfiltered access to information. With the demand on parents working to make ends meet, students have more alone time, often leading to more screen time.
The COVID Pandemic showed the breaks in our society and mental/emotional health of our students are at risk. The realization that schools need to explicitly teach resilience and tools to promote a stronger and healthier individual is more important than ever.
My GOAL is to develop a program that through collobration and mentoring relationships with teachers in SD 64, the student's wellness becomes an intergrated daily practice. This program will help to build tools for healthier and stronger students who are able to be R.E.A.L-- Respectful, Engaged, Adaptable Learners at all levels & beyond our school walls.
