Recommended Summer Reading List/SCWA Voluntary Librarian
Whilst wishing you all an enjoyable summer, we would also like to encourage our students to remember to read over this time. Reading is the perfect way to still relax, it continues to develop vocabulary building, comprehension skills and enables our minds to explore, escape and learn. Please find a recommendation list of good reads for this summer. We will look forward to catching up with students to discuss some of the books they have read. With this in mind, in the new academic year we will be celebrating International Literacy Day on 8th September. We would like to invite all students and staff to demonstrate their love of reading by entering a photo competition of all the weird and wonderful places they have read over the summer break: themed 'Catch me Reading'. Lastly, for those of our students who have a love of reading (or would like to grow their love for reading) we would like to invite them to apply in writing to be a SCWA voluntary student librarian. If interested in this role, which hosts a range of incentives and benefits, please put together a handwritten application letter expressing your interest and qualities for the role and take it to the library to apply upon your return.
