At Umoja International Academy, Physical Education is about developing the whole person. Every class is an opportunity to strengthen our physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being while contributing to a positive learning community.
Students can earn up to 8 participation points each day by living out our PE motto:
Arrive on time and ready to learn.
Follow directions and prioritize safety.
Be present, prepared, and respectful of the learning environment.
Encourage and support your classmates.
Communicate respectfully with peers and teachers.
Ask questions, advocate for yourself, and use language that builds community.
Dress appropriately for activity, including safe athletic shoes.
Participate to the best of your ability.
Demonstrate effort, perseverance, and a willingness to grow.
✘ Arriving late or not being in your assigned area when class begins.
✘ Not wearing the required PE attire or safe athletic shoes.
✘ Choosing not to participate without an approved reason.
✘ Making unsafe choices or engaging in rough play.
✘ Using disrespectful or inappropriate language.
✘ Eating or drinking anything other than water during class without permission.
✘ Behaviors that disrupt learning or prevent others from feeling safe, included, or successful.
Our grading philosophy reflects what we value most: growth over perfection, effort over comparison, and community over competition. Physical Education is more than movement, it is a place where students build healthy habits, strengthen character, develop confidence, and learn the skills needed to thrive in every aspect of life.
