Students are required to wear the designated PE uniform (shirt and shorts/sweats) and athletic shoes each day. The uniform helps ensure safety, freedom of movement, and a sense of team unity.
Students are expected to be in their assigned spot when the bell rings. Being late may result in a loss of daily points unless there is an excused reason.
A parent or guardian note may excuse a student for up to three days. For more than three days, a doctor’s note is required. Students will receive modified activities or alternative assignments so they can still earn credit.
Can my student use their phone during class?
No. Phones and electronics must be stored in lockers, bags, or turned in to the teacher during class. This helps keep students focused and protects their belongings.
Our approach is restorative and focused on growth. If behavior gets in the way of learning or safety, we use a three-step process:
Reminder: a chance to correct the choice
Reset: a short break with a private check-in
Reflection: a conversation at lunch and family contact if needed
What if my student forgets their uniform?
Students who forget their uniform are still expected to participate in class, though points may be deducted. If uniform costs are a concern, please reach out to the PE department so we can provide support.
How is grading done in PE?
Students can earn up to 8 points daily for being on time, dressing out, participating fully, and showing positive behavior. Additional points come from fitness testing and assignments. Grades focus on effort, growth, and responsibility, not just athletic performance.
How can families support their student in PE?
Encourage your student to be prepared with their uniform, stay active outside of school, and reflect on the positive habits they are building in PE. Communicate with us if there are any concerns or limitations.
What if my student does not feel confident in PE?
We recognize that every student comes in with different fitness levels and experiences. Our program emphasizes effort, progress, and personal growth over performance. We want every student to leave feeling successful.
