I have been teaching Physical Education at Umoja International Academy since moving full-time into education, but my journey in sports began long before that. I grew up in Central California and played Division I basketball at the University of Oregon and Fresno State, as well as at Reedley College, before continuing my career overseas in Amsterdam. A career-ending injury there shifted my path toward coaching, teaching, and mentorship.
After playing, I served as an assistant coach at CSU Bakersfield and Fresno State. Sports opened many doors for me, and I am committed to paying that forward by helping students build not only athletic ability but also resilience, confidence, and teamwork. That experience shapes how I approach my classroom today. I know every student enters PE with different strengths, challenges, and experiences. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where effort is celebrated and growth is the focus, whether a student is mastering a new skill, finding the courage to try, or building confidence step by step.Â
Family is at the center of who I am. As a proud wife and mom of two boys, I carry the values of patience, balance, and joy into the way I teach and connect with students. This year, I am especially excited to continue building our athletic programs, celebrating spirit days, and seeing our students shine in PE and beyond.
