Maker Challenge February

The "Mud Painting" Challenge

It's February and on February 2nd that good old Groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, saw his shadows which means 6 more weeks of winter to come. But the good news is that winter means rain, and rain means MUD!!

This month, we are going to paint with...yes...MUD!! All you will need is a white piece of paper and mud from different areas of your yard to develop different colors. While you might think mud is all...well, brown - you may be surprised at what colors come out when you find samples from different places. Once you collect the mud, you will also need a bowl of water and some things to use as paint brushes. You can use fingers, sponges, toothpicks, cotton balls, cotton swabs - be creative! Check out the examples below for some ideas. Also- please don't forget (ask your parents) to submit your name and grade!

Please review the GENERAL RULES before continuing on to this month's challenge.

Here are the FEBRUARY 2021 Challenge Rules:

  1. You must use mud from at least two different places.

  2. You must paint on white paper (so we can see your beautiful creation clearly!)

That's it! The rest is up to you and your imagination!

Please ask your parents to submit your write-up (try to include where you got your mud!) and a picture (or two!) of your creation to WOMakerspace@gmail.com by no later than February 28, 2021.
