WHITE OAKS

Monthly Maker Challenge

Calling all White Oaks Makers!

Get ready to get those creative juices flowing, stretch your neurons and let your imagination

run wild! We are introducing the White Oaks Monthly Maker Challenge - where each month

there will be a new challenge posted for you to attempt. Each challenge will be

designed to be age appropriate for K-3 and do-able from home. We will focus on making

sure any required elements are readily available so as not to be a barrier to participation.

Here are the general rules:

  1. The project should be something new to you

  2. You must make something that “does” something

  3. You must make something with little to no help from your parents

--> Try to make a sketch/design of your project before you start the build process and add some measurements to help with building

--> Build a rough prototype whenever possible (it doesn’t have to be pretty, but it should give you an idea of what it will look like)

  1. Create the final project

  2. Take multiple pictures of the project

  3. In a few sentences explain (see template below):

--> What it is and why you wanted to build it?

--> Something you learned during the making of this project

--> Something you can improve for the next time you make it

  1. Submit your write-up and picture(s) of your creation to WOMakerspace@gmail.com
