As the Extended Learning Program Supervisor for TKELP, my primary responsibility is to ensure the successful operation of a safe, engaging, and play-based program for our transitional kindergarten students. I am passionate about fostering creativity and imagination through a variety of activities, including art, crafts, and STEM projects. With over 10 years of experience supporting the district’s after-school programs, I bring a strong background in program coordination and student engagement. While I frequently work from the District Office, I always look forward to visiting our program sites and connecting directly with staff and students.
In our program, we prioritize the development of the whole child, recognizing that each student’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth is interconnected. By creating an environment that supports all areas of development, we help children build the foundation for lifelong learning. Our goal is not only to enhance academic skills but also to foster a sense of curiosity, resilience, and emotional well-being, ensuring each child thrives in a holistic way.
I bring over 30 years of experience in caring for children across various age groups. Currently, I serve as a paraeducator for LEAP at Heather during the day and work with TKELP in the afternoons. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Accounting many years ago, followed by a Cosmetology Certification in my home country of Guatemala. I am fluent in Spanish.
This is my first year with the San Carlos School District, and I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead with our wonderful students. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, and spending quality moments with my family.

I have worked with children in East Palo Alto, Davis, and San Carlos for the past six years. I began my journey with SMARTE aftercare and am currently serving as the District Office Secretary in the mornings while also working with TKELP in the afternoons. My favorite part of working with children is witnessing their bright smiles early in the morning and discovering the adventures that await us each day.

With 25 years of experience in both large and small non-profits within the disability and education sectors, I bring a wealth of knowledge to my role. I’m Donovan, a musician and SCSD alumnus. I’ve been working with the San Carlos School District since 2022 as a Custodial Sub, and through my frequent interactions with students, I developed an interest in childcare. Outside of work, I greatly enjoy music and play in a few bands across the Bay Area. I’ve really enjoyed my time as a TKELP Aide and look forward to continuing to work with the kids!
