In Pennsylvania, every school district is required to have a plan for identifying and assisting students who experience barriers to learning. A SAP team is made up of specially trained school and agency staff that is available to help find and access community services for students.
The SAP Team does not diagnose, treat, or refer students for treatment. The team will provide parents/guardians with recommendations to make the choices that best fit the needs and wishes of the child/family. Parents/guardians are an important part of the team. Student participation in the program is voluntary and is meant to be a support service for students and families.
All information regarding a student's involvement is confidential and maintained in the best interest of the student.

The SAP team reviews all referrals and an information gathering process is started. Feedback will be given by school staff about your child's academic performance, absences, behaviors, and other concerns. If the information shows that there are concerns, a team member will be in contact with you to discuss the referral and to obtain a signed permission form.
You may share any concerns you have as well. As a parent/guardian, your knowledge and thoughts about your child will be helpful in developing a plan of action. This plan may include a referral to a support group, a mentoring program, and/or an assessment by a mental health or drug and alcohol professional. Together, we can work to meet the needs of your child.
If you need more information before making a decision about SAP, please feel free to reach out to a SAP team member.
Yes! We welcome referrals to the Student Assistance Program. Our goal is to meet the needs of our students so if a student is recognizing that they need supports or a parent/guardian feels supports would be beneficial, we want to share our resources. If you would like to make a referral to the SAP program, please contact Mrs. Browell or Mrs. Reighard in the guidance office. Their contact information can be found on the home screen of this website.
