We would like to extend a warm welcome to all students and families to CHS! It is a significant transition from the middle school to the high school. Our goal is to help support all students during this transitional phase. Below is some information on what to expect as a freshman at CHS:
Students will have 8 class periods
Starting in 9th grade, students grades are reflected on their high school transcript. Courses and grades start counting toward meeting their graduation requirements. Therefore, it is essential that students are passing their classes and keeping their grades up.
Students must earn at least a 70% in a course to pass
We have an activity period that runs from 2:35 to 3:05 where students can stay with a teacher to complete missing assignments or to get assistance if they are struggling in a class.
Freshman students should have health and PE in their schedule
Elective classes are scheduled based on availability and are not guaranteed. Upperclassman get priority scheduling

The Leadership Blair County Youth Program is now accepting applications for the 25-26 school year! This leadership program is designed to teach students about Blair County's heritage, culture, and workforce opportunities. There is also a heavy emphasis on community service/involvement. Students participate in this program their sophomore year and attend monthly sessions. Some of the activities include: field trips, restaurant outings, guest speakers, and engaging in group activities to enhance leadership skills. The program is cost free and we provide transportation. This is an excellent opportunity for personal growth and definitely something to put on your resume!
Interested students must submit an application and have two adults (not your parent/guardian) fill out a recommendation form for you. Adult recommendations can come from teachers, counselors, coaches, or employers. You will need to send the recommendation form to them so they can fill it out.
More information on how to apply will be coming this spring.
