Size Scoot Enduro

When to choose Enduros?

Scoot Enduros fit horses with high-heeled hooves and mules, but may suit some horses with underrun heels,  and other hoof types not suitable for Scoot Boots.

The Scoot Enduro’s shape mimics the Scoot Slim to accommodate these hoof types.

The Scoot Enduro's adjustable rear comfortably fits these hoof shapes and provides more fitting options for the barefoot horse and mule.

Scoot Enduro is the best Scoot option for long-distance riding over 60km/40miles.

In-person sizing

The Scoot Enduro should fit snugly around the hoof wall, with adequate tension on the Front Straps, like the Scoot Boot. Use the same techniques for checking the size around the hoof wall as the Scoot Boot. If you are unfamiliar with sizing Scoot Boots, we recommend you start with Module 3 - Sizing Scoot Boots and Module 4 - Fitting Scoot Boots.

As the Enduro has adjustable rear straps, the heel bulb check will vary from sizing Scoot Boots

Remote sizing

The best method for sizing Scoot Enduros is in-person sizing using the Enduro Sizing Kit. If you cannot attend, consider offering a shell hire service to your customers. This allows you to check the size and fit remotely through photos sent by your customer. Shell hire services can be advertised on our stockist locator.

Sizing Scoot Enduros via photos

Request the following photos from your customer to evaluate for sizing. Photos must be taken within 2 weeks of a fresh trim for accurate sizing. Scoot Enduros are available by the pair as well as the single boot, checking the size of each hoof will ensure a correct fit all-round.

Scoot Enduros are designed to fit comfortably for a full 6-week trim cycle.

Step 1: Assessment photos

Providing the following instructions to your customers will aid you with accurate assessing the hoof’s overall shape and condition, for accurate sizing advice.

1 - Heel assessment

Customer instruction: Hold the camera low to the ground, square to the hoof.

Reason: This side view will allow you to evaluate the shape and height of the heel and heel bulbs.

Note: Photos taken too high can distort the perception, making an accurate assessment of the hoof height difficult.

2 - Vertical assessment

Customer Instruction: Hold the camera low to the ground, square to the hoof.

Reason: This front view will allow you to evaluate the shape and height of the hoof wall.

Note: Photos taken too high from an aerial view and not low to the ground, can exaggerate the appearance of flare and add an elongated distortion to the hoof.

Step 2: Sizing photos

Providing the following instructions to your customers will aid you with accurate sizing advice.

3 - Length

Customer Instruction: With a hoof clean from debris start the tape measure or ruler at the tip of the toe.

Reason: The correct measurement is taken from the tip of the toe stopping at the heel buttress.

Note: Viewing the hoof clean from debris will help you see the heel buttress clearly. The measurement is 120mm or 43/4" in this example.

4 - Width

Customer Instruction: With a hoof clean from debris place your tape measure across the widest part of the hoof.

Reason: Combining the measurement you now have of the length will now help you use the sizing guide to determine the size needed.

Note: The measurement is 120mm or 4 3/4" in this example.

Length to Heel Buttress

Measure to the heel buttress only, and not to where the hoof contacts the skin.
