Empowering multilingual and immigrant families to be advocates and leaders in their communities starts with building and deepening their knowledge. Here you will find learning opportunities and resources to share with families in your school community.
Multilingual & Immigrant Family Conference
Join Our Multilingual & Immigrant Family Conference and Resource Fair!
Multilingual and Immigrant Family Conference and Resource Fair is designed to celebrate multilingualism, multiculturalism, and the inherent power and brilliance of our diverse communities. Every year, the conference offers workshops on the importance of bilingual education, supports for postsecondary planning, an understanding of educational laws, mental wellness tips, and more. There will also be amazing guest speakers, cultural performances, and opportunities to meet other multilingual and immigrant families across NYC.
The announcement of 2025 Family Conference will be coming in Spring 2025.
GenConnect: Connecting Generations Through Language and Culture
GenConnect is an enriching eight-session academic program designed to support multilingual learners and immigrant families in maintaining strong connections to their culture, language, and community. Through interactive workshops and engaging activities conducted in both English and participants’ home languages, the program fosters community building and mutual support among families. Participants explore the benefits of multilingualism, understand parent rights, and develop leadership and advocacy skills. Families will gain the tools to effectively advocate for their children’s educational needs, including navigating pathways for college and career opportunities. The program also offers families the chance to read together, employing classroom reading strategies that enhance learning and bonding.
