Puerto Rican / Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute
The Angelo Del Toro Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute is a free, nationally acclaimed civic engagement Saturday program dedicated to empowering Hispanic/Latino(a)(e)(x) youth through a series of leadership sessions designed to foster an understanding of the legislative process, cultural pride, advocacy, and community action. Students learn the intricacies of the legislative process through research, empowering them to advocate for the issues that matter most.
Students who are interested in attaining the Seal of Biliteracy may use the PR/HYLI experience in partial fulfillment of the New York State Seal of Biliteracy (NYSSB). Seniors who participate in PR/HYLI may also apply for the PR/HYLI college scholarship
High schools are strongly encouraged to share this opportunity with Hispanic/Latino(a)(e)(x) high school students.
