Investigations are hands-on experiences designed to be embedded into instruction and taught along units of study
15% of the questions of the new NYSED Science Written Test will measure content related to the performance expectations measured by the Investigations.
These hands-on experiences can be offered any time during the school year
These supplementary scaffolds have been designed for you by teams of New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) Science and English as a New Language teachers under the guidance of the Office of Multilingual Learners (OML) during the summer of 2024.
The following materials are suggested by the D75 Science Dept. to support teachers & students.
"The Assessment in Science asks students to demonstrate scientific knowledge and to apply scientific concepts, formulate hypotheses, make predictions, or use other scientific inquiry techniques. The 2026 Science test for grades five and eight each consist of a single session that will be administered in one day. Students will have as much time as necessary within the confines of the regular school day to complete the test. The test is taken on the computer."
