District 75 provides highly specialized instructional support for students with disabilities, such as:
Autism Spectrum Disorders
Significant cognitive delays
Emotional disabilities
Sensory impairments
Multiple disabilities
We have 62 schools across all five boroughs that serve over 23,000 children ages 3 to 21.
Our district has some of the most creative, innovative and motivated teachers in the city. Making science content accessible to all types of learners requires these types of characteristics and the ability to "think outside box." Finding an accessible science curriculum for 23,000 IEP students is a bit of a challenge! We decided that providing our teachers with a guide that supports the standards, but also gives them flexibility with the content was the best solution. We assembled a team of educators that used their expertise to develop a collection of resources that support all types of learners. This is the culminating work of the D75 Science Scope and Sequence.
The District 75 Science Scope & Sequence for Students Participating in Alternate Assessments is a guide that supports educators with science instruction and learning.
It provides a clear and cohesive science framework that aligns with the K-12 Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) Essential Elements (EE) for Science.
This alignment of science expectations across District 75 schools will help create consistent science instruction for our students and professional learning opportunities for our teachers.
