Things to know about College Disability Services

Parent University Webinar Series
Parent University is an online course catalog and resource system where NYC families can register for free trainings on a wide range of topics. It also provides a platform for DOE and community partners to share important news, updates, and information with families.

Behind the Book's Fall Book Bash
Behind the Book will be hosting a community book giveaway event on Saturday, November 6th (11AM – 4PM) and Sunday, November 7th (11AM – 3PM) at P.S. 43 Jonas Bronck School in the Bronx.
They will be giving away 5,000 new books in both English and Spanish, many featuring Black and Brown characters as well as those written by authors of color. Books have been chosen with readers of all ages in mind.
We will also have a storytelling hour hosted by Drag Queen Story Hour NYC on Saturday, November 6 at 2 pm, as well as a table dedicated to cookbooks for parents, caregivers, and kids to enjoy.

Parent Workshop: Assistive Technology in NYC: Inclusion, Empowerment, and Independence
NYC parents and caregivers will learn about free assistive technology (AT), the different technologies and tools available, and how it can support and empower learning for students across numerous disabilities. Learn how to request AT evaluations, how the evaluations are done, how caregivers can receive training to help support their children to optimize its use, and tips on how to secure it within your IEP.

Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent Teacher Conferences are Wednesday November 10th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Friday November 12th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. All conferences will be held virtually. Parents will receive further information on how to schedule a meeting with teachers and staff. Telephone conferencing will also be available.

Early Intervention Roundtable
The Raising New York coalition is hosting a virtual Early Intervention Roundtable on October 19 from 10-11:30am to hear from parents, Early Intervention providers, and other stakeholders about their experiences with teletherapy services during the pandemic. AFC is a part of the coalition and will be participating in the roundtable.

Broadways for Arts Education: Silent Disco Broadway Dance-A-Thon- Saturday June 12th 7 PM to 9 PM
