Afterschool programs and clubs are a great way to explore career interests. Every activity counts towards building a noteworthy resume that will attract colleges and employers.
Here you will find a list of all clubs offered at AGL as well as a brief description of what each club is about.
As part of the Seward Park Campus all AGL students are welcome to try out for the following sports.
Boys: Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Handball, Table Tennis, Volleyball, and Wrestling.
Girls: Badminton, Basketball, Bowling, Cheerleading Softball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Wrestling.
AGL is proud to offer intramural basketball and soccer, and cheerleading available to both boys and girls.
Please note: A vaccine mandate applies to all high-risk afterschool extracurricular activities like chorus, musical theater, dance/dance team, cheerleading/step teams and PSAL Sports.
In addition to the sports options above, AGL offers a wide variety of afterschool clubs and extracurricular activities.
Broadway for Education in Arts (BAE)
BAE is focused on bringing the arts to high school students. This club teaches dance, voice, music, and music recording. Anyone regardless of talent or experience is welcome. No auditions are necessary.

NHS is a nationwide program that serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
Student Council
Joining the student council allows students to have a voice in what goes on at AGL. Students can have a positive impact on the AGL community and gain experience in leadership.

Law Team
Great for anyone who wants to learn more about having a career in the field of Law. Students hear from guest speakers - such as the Manhattan District Attorney’s office - and participate in mock trials and moot court.

BALI
This freshman girls only group discusses topics that are relevant to young women such as: dating, body image, domestic violence, and more. BALI also prepares girls for the world by teaching them leadership and debate skills.
BALI meets Fridays during 6th period.

The Door
This boys only group allows participants to choose topics that are relevant to them. This club provides a safe space to vent emotions, and talk about what is going on in the AGL community, local community and the world that has an impact on young lives today. (Extra Credit Opportunity)

Chess Club
Learning to play chess deepens perspective, improves memory and focus, and amplifies creativity. Chess club teaches simple tactics, middle/end game strategies, and common openings. All students are welcome to join regardless of experience.

Community Service is a way to give back to your community, help others in need, and become a more well rounded person who appeals to employers and colleges alike. There are many ways to give both in-person or remote.

The organizations below partner with AGL to offer activities and programs that are not on the Seward Park campus. AGL students are welcome to apply to any programs they offer.
The Lower East Side Youth Opportunity Hub is a community based organization affiliated with Henry Street Settlement. They offer a wide variety of afterschool activities as well as help for youth who need assistance with: job placement, the college application process, financial planning and mental health support. In addition to offering a wide variety of after school clubs and sports, the Edgies Teen Center also provides individual guidance for academic enrichment including college prep, mentoring, SAT Prep, tutoring, financial literacy, and leadership development.
