Summer 2 Term
This term we will be exploring poertry through Roald Dahl's 'Dirty Beasts'. Then we will develop our story writing skills using 'Escape from Pompeii' by Christina Balit. Finally, we will be creating an informative leaflet all about life in Year 3 that you can pass down to a Year 2 as a helpful guide!
Week 7 - Picture based stories
This week to finish off the year, we will be writing a fictional story based on a picture. Using all of the storytelling skills we have learnt during the year, we will create a fun story that will go wherever your imagination takes you!
Week 6 - Information Leaflets
This week we are going to learning about information leaflets, their features and purpose, before creating out own leaflet all about Year 3!
Week 5 - Historical Narratives
This week we are writing own own innovated historical narrative. Using our previous work and our plan, we will write and develop our story using our evaluation and redrafting skills.

Week 3 - Historical Narratives
This week we will be exploring the text 'Escape from Pompeii' by Christina Balit. We will think about writing effective setting descriptions, inferring about character's thoughts, feelings and actions before looking at how a narrative is structured.

Week 2 - Creating Poetry
This week we will be focusing on how to begin writing your own poetry. We will be focusing on wordplay, exploring our ideas, gathering vocabulary and creating a mood in our poem.

This week's learning will focus on exploring what makes a great poem! By analysing Roald Dahl's poems in 'Dirty Beasts' the children will identify the features of a poem and even practice performing one!

WEDNESDAY
This week we are going to be learning how to write a PERSUASIVE LETTER. Follow the lessons each day to help you build to skills for persuasive letter writing.
In this lesson you will need to use your summary, prediction and inference skills.
You will read to the end of Chapter 2 in the story, do a hot seating task, answer some inference questions and find evidence to support your answers.
There is also a challenge task to write a diary entry if you would like a next step!
Reading
Reading everyday is the best thing you can be doing at home! Please continue to read a book you have at home for 20 minutes a day.
Below are some reading comprehensions you can do to practise answering questions on what you've read.
The sheets are differentiated into 1 star, 2 star and 3 star, so pick whichever one suits you!
