Here we go again! Week 2 at home!

5-1 and 5-2 students,

Good morning everyone! Be sure that you continue to check your email, my website here, and your google classroom daily. There have been a lot of changes for sure, and change sometimes is hard to get used to, but we will get through all of this together. I sure do miss seeing all of you each morning. Let us keep praying for one another and for our world. Hope to see all of you soon!

First, Begin as everyday with the Pledge of Allegiance(Do you have a flag? If not, make one!) and Morning prayer. (Don’t forget your intentions.)

Reading (Not Read 180 students) - This week is Unit 5 Week 5. First familiarize yourself with this week's vocabulary. Then go to the Wonders site. You can access your RWW book here. Once you are on, click resources, then click Read/Writing Workshop, then go to pg 364-365 to see more on the vocabulary. Then read "Should Plants and Animals from Other Places Live Here?" Pgs 366-369. (You can read yourself or have the computer play it and you follow it:) Now go to google classroom and do the assignment today: Unit 5 Week 5 vocabulary. Be sure to hit the "turn in" button.

Language Arts - Still working on adjectives this week. You have your grammar packet for week 2. Worksheets 121, 122, 123,124, and 125. These will be your practice sheets this week. You do not have to turn any of this in. You have Monday through Thursday to complete them. On Friday, you will have a quiz to take in Google Classroom. Be sure you have someone at home look over your work to check it. Here is a video that might help you understand them. video

spelling - List 25 are your words this week. If you lost the paper..find them here Spelling words. There is no pretest so I want you to practice writing your words for me today...3x each. I do not need to see this. Just ask a parent if they will check over your spellings for you. Remember, the final test will be Friday.

The list is really cool. For example: confuse is a verb, when you add the ending -ion it changes it to confusion a noun. Remember that when using these words in sentences.

Math - Today is review of the whole (short) chapter. We only had 5 lessons. So go online to Go Math and do what I assigned for today....Practice ch. 8 test.

Religion - This week we will do Ch. 11 and the final part of the mass....The Concluding Rites. Read pages 87-89 in your books and do the few things on those pages.

CNN - Don’t forget to watch CNN 10 (Be sure to write down 2 facts and keep until Friday when you will turn in all 10 facts for the week)……... CNN 10

Reading (Not Read 180 students) - Unit 5 Week 5. Start today by reviewing your vocabulary for the week. See the link from yesterday (maybe you printed them off or wrote them down). Get out your big reading book and read "The Case of the Missing Bees" pgs 424-427. Read also "Busy, Beneficial Bees" pgs. 428-429. Now hop on over to Google Classroom to answer questions about today's stories about bees.

Math - Today you are going to take a math quiz in Google Classroom. Hop on over to your google classroom and click on today's math quiz.

Religion - This week we will do Ch. 11 and the final part of the mass....The Concluding Rites. We are told "to go in peace to glorify the Lord by your life "at the end of mass. Our job is to serve others as Jesus did. Read page 90 in your books: The Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy. Watch this video. Think of ways you can serve others. Think of ways today that you can serve God and others by doing the works of mercy!!!! Do page 92 in your books and be sure to look up the answers in the chapter. Make sure you do it, and no need to send me a pic. or turn this into me. You will use this later this week.

Then hop on over to Google Classroom and do the "author's point of view" assignment over these articles. Don't forget to look it over and "turn in" when finished.

Math - Get out your new math book, chapter 9. Cut out the new vocab cards and read over them carefully. Keep them in your baggie so you have them to look at when you need to. Today's lesson is doing Line Plots. Video you can watch first Now look over and do pgd 533-535 (You don't have to do it all....just enough to understand it). You can also play the video online at Go Math to help you understand it. Once you do, you need to do the assignment L 9.1 online Go Math .

Religion - This week we will do Ch. 11 and the final part of the mass....The Concluding Rites. Because we are told to go and serve others at the end of mass, I'd like you to make a card for someone today. Think of all the people in nursing homes who aren't allowed to see anyone because of the virus scare. Maybe it is someone who is sad because they are quarantined because of the virus and can't or aren't able to get out and see anyone. Maybe it is your grandparents, aunts, neighbor, a sick person, etc. I even have an address that you can send a hospice card since we are not at school. So if you'd like, you can make a card or two and send to: St. Rita's Hospice, 959 W. North Street, Lima, OH 45805 (Mr. Wilker, The chaplin, was so excited that I asked for it).....If your parents can't mail the cards to them, then do a virtual one online or email someone a nice letter. The list is endless. Later this week, I will ask you who you sent your card/letter/email to. Be sure and do it!!!!!!!

Reading (Not Read180 students) - Today is normally library day. So first study your Unit 5 week 5 vocab words so you are ready for tomorrow's test. In your PB(practice book) pgs 247-248 do in your books for practice. No need to get to me. This is for your own practice. Then I want you to get on to Exact Path and work on reading for 20-30 minutes today.

Math - Happy Friday. Today I want you to get on Exact Path: Once you are there, use the login information you have taped to the front of your assignment calendar book in your binder. Today I want you working on Math for 30 minutes. Get those trophies!

Religion - Because it is still Lent, today you will watch and pray the Stations of the Cross. We would have done these in our classroom and the church had we been at school. So today click on this link to pray the Stations.

Also today at 1:00 The Holy Father invited the faithful to join him via live stream from www.vaticannews.va at which time he will grant to all participants the Plenary Indulgence before imparting the Urbi et Orbi Blessing. JOIN IN!
