Promoting Bilingualism and Biliteracy in ELs: What We Know From Research and Best Practices (K-12)

Research consistently demonstrates that English learners can be academically successful and can achieve bilingualism and biliteracy. This presentation will highlight the important characteristics that are associated with successful outcomes for EL students based on 30 years of research and best practices. Topics will include diverse learner backgrounds, bilingual and biliteracy development, and implications for promoting successful dual language programs.
