This year, the Big Picture community split up into two groups for Service Learning Term - Precious Plastics, and Animal Rights. I was in the Animal Rights group, where we analyzed two very complex, yet important topics: farms and food systems, and human impacts on wildlife.
To do this, we conducted our own research and worked with community partners to witness the ways animal products are raised and manufactured, and saw for ourselves how environments have been impacted due to human interaction. We worked with New Village Farm, Vermont Youth conservation Corps (VYCC), UVM Creamery, Vermont Fish and Wildlife, and Green Mountain Audubon.
