We tried to address the following questions during the three years of the grant:
What is culturally and linguistically responsive teaching? What is contained in the NYSED framework and how can we use it?
How can we bring together three districts to help students and adults learn about each other?
What programs, lessons, and activities can we offer to help our school communities understand and respect themselves and others?
During the 3-year journey to embed CLR practices in our respective school districts, we focused on:
Year 1 - Ensuring there was a common understanding of culturally responsive teaching and bringing teachers together to develop ideas
Year 2 - Teachers begin to plan and receive PD together, students begin to Skype;
Year 3 - Assistive technologies show up in main offices; unity circle meetings collaborations between districts
