During the three years of the grant we presented information during the instructional technology sessions that included the benefits of using assistive technologies to reach all students. We used a variety of approaches including running specific training on features of devices that students had access to, making sure to point out accessibility features of programs that students used (like the Immersive Reader), and reminding teachers how to use technology to differentiate instruction and assessment using the reporting tools that are available.
In Year 3, Google Classroom, Chromebooks, and Google Meet were still the most requested asks for professional development. We found that after the initial push to move assignments to this platform during the pandemic, that teachers were interested in using these tools to reach more learners, to differentiate, to make content more accessible, to engage students in conversation, check for understanding, and provide students with quick and effective feedback. This led us to provide support through online self-paced modules as well as Saturday morning cohorts. Some of these presentations and artifacts can be found below.
