How to Support CLR with Technology

During the course of the grant, the three districts in the consortium worked together and separately to find ways to improve the use of technology in blended learning scenarios, including hybrid and concurrent learning, and to support culturally linguistic responsive classrooms.

During the 3-year journey to support CLR instruction using technology, each district worked with outside consultants and internal teachers to embed activities using technology in meaningful ways.

Since each district was in a different place in their technology integration journey, consultants worked independently at each district and assessed needs using walkthroughs, discussions with administrators, and in some cases surveyed needs. Teachers also worked in small groups and were coached on their own practice. In Year 1 presentations were conducted by both internal coaches and external instructional technology consultants to help teachers understand the term blended learning. Year 2 focused on strengthening teachers' understanding of specific tools and strategies related to blended learning and hybrid and concurrent learning owing to the necessities of the pandemic. Year 3 expanded those presentations across all three districts and included more individual and small-group virtual coaching in the districts.
