student accounts
Upon first admission to the Music department, each student will have established in their name an account that is used for both fundraising and billing purposes.
Certain fundraisers each year will be designated as opportunities for students to earn funds to be placed into these individual accounts. Other fundraisers will be designated as benefiting the general fund.
Positive balances in individual accounts may be used to purchase department-related needs such as: uniforms, reeds, sticks, etc.Â
Positive balances in individual accounts may be used to pay for department-related activities such as: lessons through the Spaulding Lesson Program, travel expenses for department-sponsored trips, cost of uniforms and replacement parts, expendables, etc.
Individual accounts may be billed for items obtained by the students regardless of whether an account has a negative or positive balance, however it is expected that students will not carry negative balances in the long-term. Accounts will need to be "re-paid" either through fundraising or by writing a check or providing cash for the balance owed. The directors reserve the right to freeze accounts in arrears - preventing items from being billed to it - until such time as the account is brought into good standing.
Students carrying a negative balance for an excessive amount of time will have that balance reported to the main office and will be prevented from engaging in graduation, receiving a diploma, and other such activities until such time as the balance is paid in full.
Any positive balances in accounts earned as a result of fundraising under the umbrella of the Music Department or Rochester Music Boosters will be forfeit at such time as the student leaves the department, whether that be through graduation or other means. Those funds will then revert to the general fund and be used for the benefit of all students in the department.
Accounts may be viewed and tracked through CutTime, our new student management system.
