This week we:
-Completed Unit 10 in Fundations which focuses on adding the suffix s to words with 5 sounds, adding ed and ing to unchanging base words with closed syllables-Reviewed the vowel teams ay, ai, ea, ee, ey, oi, oy, oa, oe, ow, ou, oo, ue, ew, au, aw-Practiced reading and spelling our Unit 10 heart/trick words: any, many, how, now, down, out, our, about-Took the Unit 10 Fundations Assessment-Reviewed nouns, verbs, and adjectives-Wrote simple sentences including capitalization, punctuation, and grammar-Reviewed and completed Topic 11 in Math which focuses on using models and strategies to subtract 10s-Continued working on projects for the end of the year and our Celebration of Learning-Read and discussed a Scholastic Newspaper for kids-Enjoyed listening to and discussing various chapter books being read aloud-Continued discussing opinion writing and how to persuade the reader
-Introduced common and proper nouns
Next week we will:
-Begin Unit 11 in Fundations which focuses on the vowel-consonant-e syllable pattern with words such as bike, ape, and stove-Review the vowel teams ay, ai, ea, ee, ey, oi, oy, oa, oe, ow, ou, oo, ue, ew, au, aw-Introduce our Unit 11 heart/trick words: other, another, none, nothing, friend-Review common and proper nouns, verbs, and adjectives-Write simple sentences including capitalization, punctuation, and grammar-Continue working on time to the hour and half hour and begin measurement-Read and discuss a Scholastic Newspaper for kids-Enjoy listening to and discussing various chapter books being read aloud-Continue discussing opinion writing and how to persuade the reader-Enjoy our Celebration of Learning!
