Potential Example: A student wants to take AP Physics II or AP Latin, even if we don't offer the course at MHS. This could also be outside learning such as a long family trip to a unique destination. These could also be certification courses taken at a college or other community entity.
Potential Example: If you are interested in a career in law, you might do an exploration in law enforcement, a laywer's office, or a courthouse.
Potential Example: If you wanted to take AP Spanish (usually offered in 1 period only) and that conflicts with another course that only has 1 period, you could choose to do one via ELO.
These are temporary, unpaid positions where a student can work with a professional in a chosen career field. Internships are a fantastic way to earn real-world experience in specific fields. They also look great on college admissions when the internship aligns with a students academic and professional goals. This will require either a MHS or Community mentor.
Potential Example: If you want to go to Law School, you could intern with a criminal or civil law firm to not only see if it's a good fit, but also begin the process of learning and advancing your knowledge before college.
Potential Example: FIRST Robotics, or a community service project that requires organizing and community approval, etc. An Eagle Scout project could also fit here.
