Extended Learning Opportunities (ELOs)
Extended Learning Opportunities are a way to earn high school credit outside of the traditional classroom, and without the time constraints of a traditional classroom. ELO's provide a diverse, personalized approach to learning and affords students a way to use their interests, skills, and talents to broaden their academic learning. Please use the below links to learn more about ELOs and to reach out about creating your own ELO.
ELOs, in some cases, go beyond the MHS curriculum to provide additional academic choices for students looking for specialized instruction. To be successful, students will employ the Four Competencies of ELOs: Research, Reflection, Product, and Presentation. Students can customize their learning and streamline their ELO to meet rigorous standards that align with their interests.
ELOs are monitored through frequent informal and formal check-ins. Because of this, ELOs are for the full spectrum of learners. Students that struggle with traditional course frameworks often find their academic voice, as well as academic success, when engaging in the authentic learning central to ELOs. Students can also challenge themselves with more involved internships, as well as advance coursework.
